The problem

School calendars vary across the UK. Significantly.

School dates are set independently by each of the 208 Local Education Authorities. Half term in Manchester can fall a fortnight before half term in London. A national promotion planned around 'the school holidays' is planned around the wrong signal.

Illustrative — actual dates vary year to year and are licensed via Semestern's API.
📅

208 independent calendars

Each LEA sets its own dates independently. A nationally planned promotion is wrong for a significant share of your catchment.

📉

Dates shift year on year

October half term moves. Easter moves. Without structured tracking, revenue teams discover changes too late to adjust pricing and planning decisions.

⚙️

Raw data isn't decision-ready

Even teams with calendar access struggle to turn dates into demand signals. Semestern pre-computes the impact layer so you don't have to.

How it works

Three steps from sign-up to insight.

01

Choose your tier

Select the level that matches your team — structured calendar data, pre-calculated demand signals, or the full population intelligence layer. We configure your API key and onboard you directly.

02

Access via API

Query the REST API in JSON. Interactive Swagger documentation at /uk/docs. Full dataset, no sampling.

03

Integrate and act

Connect to your forecasting model, BI tool, or data pipeline. Current year data from day one. Following year published automatically each May.

Use cases

Used across industries that move with the school year.

Retail

Plan promotions around the holidays that actually affect your stores, not the national average.

Hospitality & Leisure

Forecast footfall by the pupil population in your catchment area, weighted to your specific geography.

Travel

Pinpoint exactly when the school-age population in each region is free to travel, by LEA origin.

Workforce & HR

Build smarter leave and scheduling models using granular term data and INSET day alerts.

Financial Services

A 28-year signal for consumer behaviour and transaction volume models at regional granularity.

Modelling & Research

28 years of consistent data. Train models. Backtest strategies. Find patterns at LEA level.
